Dr. Emily Ward

Dr. Emily Ward is a board-certified gastroenterologist who pivoted in her career to champion women’s gut and rectal health while shaking up the healthcare experience for women everywhere.

Growing up on a small farm and apple orchard in rural Ohio, Dr. Emily’s roots are as down-to-earth as she is.

Witnessing her mother’s health concerns being brushed aside and her father’s decade-long battle with metastatic cancer slipping through the cracks of the healthcare system, she developed a keen sense of the importance of good nutrition and proactive care early on.
Witnessing her mother’s health concerns being brushed aside and her father’s decade-long battle with metastatic cancer slipping through the cracks of the healthcare system, she developed a keen sense of the importance of good nutrition and proactive care early on.

She aspired to be a gastroenterologist, providing proactive care through lifestyle-focused consultation, endoscopic diagnosis, and treatments. Driven by a desire to blend lifestyle, nutrition, and medical expertise, she embarked on her medical journey at Ohio State University, initially focusing on and becoming board-certified in pediatrics and internal medicine.

After serving as Chief Resident of Internal Medicine at Ohio State, she headed west to the University of Colorado, where she completed her gastroenterology training and earned the title of Chief Gastroenterology Fellow. Dr. Emily Ward then took the reins as a practicing physician and owner of a private gastroenterology practice, where she saw mainly women with gut and rectal issues over nine years.

The pinnacle of her professional career is starting GutsyRx, where she continues revolutionizing care for women with gut and rectal issues.

Dr. Emily Ward enjoys quality time outside the clinic with her ER doctor spouse, two lively kids, and friends. She loves hiking, dabbling in reading and blog writing, and makes valiant attempts at growing vegetables and playing the piano.

Women are more likely to have their symptoms dismissed as psychological and are less likely to receive appropriate pain treatment. Medical providers often gaslight women. We’ve witnessed this disparity as doctors and experienced it as patients. Being taken seriously is crucial to healing—and we’re here to advocate for the ladies.
